Mike McClure Band @ Old 36

Love the honesty, alive and mostly well.

On January 27th in central Illinois, The Mike McClure Band graced us with their music and the Old 36 in Riverton was a terrific host. The High Low Drifters from the Champaign area opened the show with some great red dirt covers. They kept the crowd very entertained for almost two hours. I think everyone who was there would agree they are a great opener for OK/TX bands.  Playing The Turnpike Troubadours, Jason Boland, CCR and much more.  I thoroughly enjoyed their show and look forward to seeing more.

At about 10:15 The MMB came in the doors and by 10:20, they were playing Stupid Hole, LOUD!  They were cracking up laughing right from the start. I think they were happy to be there, but maybe they were over tired and giddy? They're rock stars, it's hard telling. hmmm it's "hard telling" is something my mother used to say, it's like she just wrote that,  note to self, weird.   Early in the show, someone asked for Jack of Diamonds and Mac says "It's too early in the show for failure, but what the heck I'll do it, I'm used to it." They played it perfectly without one missed lyric. Mac recognized an adoring fan Joy and assured us the night would be great because we have JOY.  He noticed Mrs. Fun curtsying and curtsied back. He mentioned he had a new cd out and he had some in the van if ya wanted one.  He fired Tom and Eric for taking too many breaks and teased they were getting their heroin fix. It was a night of tremendous laughter and everyone loved it and we all need it. Laughter.  Tom Skinner played while sitting on a trunk most of the evening. I'm tired too Tom. ;) They played their hearts out for  two hours and 27 songs. Thank you so much for the laughs and the lyrics. It was a night I won't soon forget.
